If you live in Iowa or the Midwest, you are accustomed to the constant chat ter of the multiple uses of corn. It's exanding use as a fuel source is an exciting time for corn growers. I am sure that if I had more time to follow the pros and cons of the new uses of corn that I could fill an entire blog for years. But that isn't what this post is about. Nope - I am not talking about our cars, trucks and mowers running on corn powered gasoline (aka ethanol). Heck no - it's sweet corn season! I am talking about me!
We are officially one week into sweet corn, corn on the cob, peaches and cream, buttery- steamy - corn on every corner summertime. That means that every Iowan between now and the end of August will eat their body weight of their family tree in sweet corn. Heck with the fancy widgets that count my running miles or time to the my next big race - I am thinking I should pay a programmer to count the endless ears of corn that I will consume in the next few months.
And like some cars, I am now running a bit cheaper and cleaner.
