For me.... It's thinking about the feeling I have once I get done. An incredible high feeling of knowing that I've done something to develop myself, combined with the natural "high" feeling from exercising, leaves me feeling awesome afterwards. Also, knowing I'm just going to feel guilty for the rest of the day motivates me. So, on the days I'm dragging, I just try to tell myself that I'll feel so much better afterwards and be happy that I did it.
i have a mirror in front of my treadmill. i like knowing that i look good, and that each step i take makes me healthier than someone who doesnt exercise because they are already skinny... but the thing is im healthier than they are. =]]
I mostly run for the enjoyment of it. I don't know why, but I just enjoy running. I was born with a stiff skeleton (a bone specialist said my joints were the opposite of double joints) and I can't do sports that require quick actions and jumping. I can do distance running, though, because my gets into a rhythm and just does it over and over. I grew up doing a lot of walking and hiking, and running as an adult is just an extension of that, I guess. I've been running for 36 years, 36 years of pleasure!
