Running is GOOD for my health----Housework is BAD??!!

Posted Oct 09 2012 3:41pm
Well, I finally went out for a run! My back didn't hurt at all last night or this morning, and since my doctor didn't tell me I couldn't run (maybe it was implied), I thought I would go out for just a short one mile run.
I couldn't believe how COLD it was when I went outside! I was freezing at first and my hands never warmed up at all! Wow, this cool weather is going to take some getting used to! I actually ended up doing 1.5 miles and was planning to go on for 2, but it started raining pretty hard and I didn't think that being cold AND wet would be the best thing for my asthma that has been flaring up, so I headed home.

Just before I got home from my run, I started to feel a little wheezing, so I went straight inside and used my inhaler. After a few minutes, I realized that the inhaler didn't seem to be working, and I KNOW what that has meant in the past.....A trip to the ER and even being admitted to the hospital! I decided that maybe I should use the nebulizer that they sent home with me after my trip to the ER back in the spring. It took me a few minutes to remember where the machine was, since I hadn't used it in so long, and I was feeling so dizzy and lightheaded, it was hard to think! I was running around like a chicken with their head cut off, looking for the machine.....then realizing as soon as I found it, that I couldn't remember how to put it together, much less use it, and that the instructions were NOT in the box! I found instruction booklets for every small AND major appliance that I have ever owned, but NOT the one for this stupid machine! When I FINALLY found the booklet, my wheezing had pretty much stopped, so I never used the nebulizer! I guess the inhaler just took a little longer to work than it usually does! I DID however, read the booklet and made sure that it was in the box with the machine in case I need it in the future! Lesson learned......KEEP INSTRUCTION MANUAL with NEBULIZER!!

Since I don't seem to have exercise induced asthma, I'm pretty sure my asthma attack was either due to my allergies and the sudden change in weather........or maybe from the bleach that I accidentally used to clean with this morning. When I was cleaning my shower, I thought I was using the spray bottle with vinegar, since that is supposed to be better for the breathing problem.......but SOMEHOW I didn't notice the word BLEACH on the side of the bottle until I sprayed and then immediately smelled the bleach! The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that I should NEVER do housework!! My worst asthma attacks have been after doing a lot of housework! Maybe I need a cleaning person?? My insurance company said that I need "an asthma plan of action."........Could that mean a cleaning person??? Wonder if the insurance company would pay for that??

Oh well, in any case, I don't have any wheezing now and I DID get in that run, so overall....LIFE IS GOOD!!
