Running Apparel Tip #3: The Coolest Exercise Top Ever Made
Posted Oct 18 2008 4:09pm
My goodness, how running gear has improved over the last ten years. They've really thought of everything. And I do mean everything.
Running tights now come with back zip pockets for your house key, ID/bank card, &/or money. Running shorts not only have anti-bacterial lining to substitute for your underwear, but they also have zip pockets or hidden pockets on the inside.
And now, I'd like to introduce you to the exercise top that can hold your MP3 player. Yes, you heard me right. Of course, it also comes with the unilaterally-standard, build-in bra. But did I mention that it can hold your MP3 player. How freakin' cool is THAT?!
Needless to say, I just had to have one of these tops. So, of course, I tried it on in the store & fell madly in love with it right away. (What can I say, I'm a sucker for anything that meets my dual criterion of form & function.....) Of course, in my book, practical + beautiful = "KA-CHING!" Hahahaha. But seriously, while I don't claim to be an overbuying über-consumer (atleast not anymore -- those days of misinformed purchases in multiples are thankfully, for the most part, far behind me ;-) ), this top was just too cool & useful to pass up.
So, without further ado, here's what you need to know (purchase details, etc.) about this product:
PRODUCT NAME:"C9 by Champion® Long Tank with Inner Bra"
(The below pictures are links to product pages of an online store.)
FEATURES: • Athletic tank • Sleeveless shoulder/tank straps • Inner bra for added support • Duo Dry® technology: Ventilated fabric for temperature control that wicks & speeds evaporation to help keep you cool & dry. • Made of 88% Polyester, 12% Spandex: Stretches for freedom of movement • Straight hem • Antimicrobial: Fights the growth of odor-causing bacteria. • Rear Pocket for MP3 player holder!!!!! (YEA!) • Cord guidance system to assure ease of movement
AVAILABLE COLORS: Blue [which is actually a light blue with their "euro" (i.e., charcoal)] grey, & green.
SIZES: S, M, L, XL. (The small is roughly equivalent to about a size 4-6, the medium about a 8-10, & so forth.)
WHERE TO FIND THEM: Target. If you don't have a Target store near you, you can also purchase the tops online.
NOTE ABOUT ONLINE AVAILABILITY: It looks like they are pretty much sold out online, except for XL sizes in both colors in this style. Check your local Target for more selection.
If you are looking for functional & beautiful running tops that just happen to have a built-in pocket for an MP3 holder, look no further. Not only are these tops stylish & flattering, but they are highly functional as well. Go out & buy these right now!
PROS: --A built-in MP3 player pocket makes these tops really functional. And very cool too! --It's made of a practical high-tech fabric which is highly recommended (by experts as well as little ole' me) for running & other forms of fitness: The garment has Champion's patented Duo Dry® technology for increased ventilation & evaporation of moisture. I can attest to the garment's excellent functionality. --It's antimicrobial, which helps ward off those little nasty, odor-causing bacteria. Translation: Just like those ziplocked leftovers you tossed into the freezer last Tuesday, you'll stay fresher longer. :-) --The garment is durable: It can be thrown in the wash with your other clothes, although I wouldn't recommend throwing them in the dryer, since it's a stretch polyester fabric (& the antimicrobial fabric might possibly lose some of its odor-fighting properties that way). Air-drying is best. --The price is very reasonable: At $18.99 , for a top with so many features & quality construction, this purchase is a very good value.
CONS: --This isn't necessarily a "con" for some, but is more of a cautionary note: The garment's fit is well, fitted. This is not a top for the modest or meek at heart. If you like more modesty in your workout clothes, go for the other Champion top I recommended in my previous post. Or, if you must have it, wear it as a sports bra, and throw on a singlet over top of it (like the one I just recommended!) , or completely cover it up with a short or long-sleeved exercise top for more coverage. Of course that kind of defeats the purpose of having an easy access MP3 player holder, but if you don't mind getting tangled up in your MP3 player wires, then go for it. ;-) No, just kidding. Probably not a good idea! --I also wouldn't recommend this top for the larger-chested ladies out there. While it does contain a built-in bra, it's not meant to keep a larger chest in check. As the saying goes, "the dam can only hold so much water when the pressure starts to build." So if you happen to be one of the more well-endowed among us, please seek other, sturdier & more supportive alternatives. After all, to paraphrase a commonly uttered platitude amongst us females of the species, if "the girls" are not happy, NO ONE is happy. ;-) (The original phrase is actually "if the woman isn't happy, then NO ONE is happy." But either case is usually true!) So make sure your bra can do you justice, ladies! --The other con is that, as you can see from my earlier comment, they have become quite popular & are selling out quickly. So if you are thinking about purchasing a few, don't wait too long, or you might not be able to find any more! ;-)
