Ok so this weekend was CRAZY! David went to New Orleans for the weekend for a work conference, so I thought it would be a great time to get in some good back-to-back runs. Also, it has finally gotten hot here in Colorado so when I wear a long sleeved shirt during my runs it isn't to keep warm anymore-it is to help my heat training! So Friday, I started off very early for a 50 mile run. That is really unheard of for me. Usually a 50 mile run would only take place during a race, but I forced myself. I ran entirely on pavement and my body responded very well. I planned my route around water so I could continually hydrate. I got home about 8 hours later and headed straight to the gym. I got in a great sauna session, went home to eat, walk the dogs, and off to bed. The next day I did it all again except I only ran 40 miles. I was totally wiped out. I ran a 20 mile run today and it actually felt short! I couldn't believe all the time I had today. I am just really proud of myself that I focused and got it done. It wasn't fun, it wasn't fast, but it was a great quality weekend. I am still scared about
Badwater, but feel like I am more prepared this year than I was last year. Only time will tell!
I used this site to map my routes:
http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/. If you type in your zip code and zoom out, you can see everything. It also give you elevation profiles and of course your mileage. Pretty cool!
