Let me preface this story with the fact that my team for the Ragnar New England Relay is named the Red Rockettes.
In celebration of one of our friends birthday, my running ladies and I met up for dinner at Fugakyu (which, by the way had DELICIOUS sushi and a great selection!) and did a little gift swap. I have to admit that I got my gift a little late for the swap. I ended up getting a Flour bakery giftcard. I didn’t want everyone to know that it was a giftcard, so I decided to wrap it creatively. I had a co-worker help me create a red rocket out of folders, foam core, red wrapping paper, and tape! We then put the gift card in the rocket via a small door on the front and then the rocket in box wrapped in red wrapping paper.
As my friend opened the present, she said “All I can image is getting a red rocket!” Much to her surprise, she actually got one! She must have thought it was a really well crafted red rocket, because she thought that was the gift! I had to tell her to open the rocket to see what was inside! She was so excited that she ripped the top off the rocket, not seeing that there was a door! Luckily we were able to prepare the rocket so that it could be a nice centerpiece and perhaps our mascot!
Have you ever gotten a great gift from a gift swap? A horrible gift? Have you ever tricked someone with the wrapping of a present? Have you ever run a relay? If not…you should run one of the relays series of the Ragnar Relay!
