I think I’m ready to attempt a run (YAY!!) I can still feel a little discomfort in my shin, but it’s not pain, and I figure as long as I take ibuprofen before and ice after, I should be fine with a mile and a half run. At some point, I need to get out there and see how it feels. As long as I take it slow and easy, I think I’ll be fine.
I’ve been reading about shin splint treatment and prevention, and I saw people recommending this nifty (little?) gadget for post run therapy:
I have to say, it’s going to take some getting used to, because it’s by no means forgiving. But then again, neither is muscle pain, so in my mind, this will be the lesser of two evils.
I bought mine from Road Runner Sports . They had a good price to start with, and with my VIP discount, I couldn’t pass it up. Plus FREE, super fast shipping! I LOVE RR Sports!
I think I’ll try to get my run in during the early afternoon. The wind is going to be my enemy today. Guess I’ll try my new Brooks Wind Shirt .
