Sure, it's one thing to read about a well-publicized race, but what's it really like and is it really worth plunking down bucks for travel/hotel? To answer these questions, I used the Runner's World magazine Destinations feature. Click on the region that interests you, and you get a list of great runs. There are lots of personal accounts of races, like the one on the "World's Best 10K Race" held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. You might want to read this first before you invest further.
