Race Report: Sea Dog 5k

Posted May 22 2011 8:26pm
Race Name: Sea Dog 5k/10k
Location: Cheshire, CT
Time: 27:49
Average Pace: 8:59
Best Pace: Weather: High 50's Cloudy

This was hands down THE BEST 5k that I have ever ran! Yes, I know it's only my second one but whatever it was awesome. It was the Cheshire Sea Dog Healthy Living Expo 10k and 5k run. I pre-registered for the 5k instead of the 10k only because I just ran a half marathon last week and I wasn't sure what to expect recovery wise. This also was the first year that they included a kids relay race with the 5k.

Overall I think that race was well organized. The 5k and 10k had two different starting points/courses which met up together in the last 1/2 mile. There was plenty of post race snacks, food and drinks because of the Healthy Living Expo.

First of all, any race that has one of these is guaranteed to be a good time!

Pre-Race Photo.
I don't know why but it in every picture that I have which includes running my face always looks like a puffer fish. IDK, maybe it's just me.

This was pretty cool. While waiting for the race to start they were raising the same flag that has flown at Ground Zero every year since 9/11 between July 4th and September 11th. They also had a salute to the  9/11 first responders giving that we are coming up on the 10 Year anniversary.

Pre-race fun! Of course I have to take self portraits while waiting for the race to start.

And we're off! As we started getting closer to the flag you really got a sense of how commemorative and just how monstrous it was.

It was actually flying at eye level so if you wanted to touch it as you ran by you could. I did!

For the most part, a pretty flat course.
What is the coolest thing that you have ever gotten at a race?
