My friend Denise loves food of all sorts (that’s partially what inspired her to start her blog ). She told me the best burger in the Boston area was at R.F. O’Sullivan and Son in Somerville, MA. Dave and I had to try this burger so we met Denise and her husband Mike at this local pub last night.
I was eyeing the jalapeño burger which is what Denise ordered, so I told the waiter, “I’ll have exactly what she’s having!”. Dave and I both liked how you could get half fries and half onion rings in case you wanted to mix it up. They were both delicious options and if you decide to stop by-you must get the half and half option. As for the burger, if you are afraid of getting messy while eating, you might want to avoid this burger joint-all of our burgers were dripping deliciousness all over our plates!
Overall, my burger experience at R.F. O’Sullivan and Sons was really good-great tasting burger, large portion of meat (1/2 lb), a lot of toppings, delicious sides, and great company. R.F. O’Sullivans isn’t a large pub so the tables are quite close, but you can hold a pretty good conversation and actually hear the other people at your table. On top of that, the service was really good-our server kept checking if we needed more drinks, the burgers came fast, and the plates were cleared rather quickly.
The only thing I was missing from my burger experience was a little more jalapeño kick that I had been used to with the Miracle of Science Ronie Burger. Even though you get more meat and toppings at R.F. O’Sullivans, if I compare flavor for a jalapeño burger-the Ronie Burger will have to win on this battle even with its more modest size and toppings. But if I compare regular burgers (vs. jalapeño), the R.F. O’Sullivans burger will win. R.F. O’Sullivan and Sons also has way more options that Miracle of Science, which means Dave and I will have to visit again to give some of the other types of burgers a try!
What is your favorite side with a burger?
Homefries or french fries. Anything potatoes is amazing!
Where is your favorite burger from?
My favorite jalapeño burger is from Miracle of Science and my favorite regular burger is from R.F. O’Sullivans. I still need to try Bartley’s burgers and some other burger places too though!
