Progress, and Getting Back on the Wagon

Posted Nov 21 2012 10:35am

I never made it out to run Sunday or Monday. Well, I ran some errands both days, but no physical running. I HATE the short days. I am used to running at 8:00 or 9:00pm, so having to squeeze my run in before 5:00pm is tough, but I finally did it yesterday.

It was a gorgeous day; sunny, about 60 degrees, and only a light breeze. I started out feeling chilly since I only wore shorts and a tech t-shirt, but I warmed up quickly and had an awesome run. And best of all, I had NO pain whatsoever! My shin felt great, my ankle was fine, and I felt like I was running on air. Toward the end I felt a little tweak in my hip, but not enough to be uncomfortable. Today, my glutes are sore (I put in a total of 7.8 miles with my two walks on top of my 3.33 mile run) and my shin can tell it worked, but it’s nothing like it used to be.

Today is just a walking day, and perhaps I’ll get downstairs and lift some weights. I have really slacked off in that department since Dan went to Alabama in October. Once I get Thanksgiving behind me, I am planning to seriously get back on the wagon. I haven’t been nearly as diligent the past couple of months as I should be, and I think I’ve probably put a few pounds back on. I do NOT want to go backward. I worked too hard to get where I am, and I have a cruise coming up in less than two months. I have enough time to undo the damage if I start now, but I need to get my head back in the game.

So, I will wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. I am off to figure out what my vegetarian self is going to make as a main dish for me and my vegetarian daughter. Wish me luck!
