I almost talked myself out of running yesterday. I was going to give myself another day or two to heal, but last night, I just really needed to run, so April and I set out in the neighborhood. I stuck to the gradual inclines (not too many places in our neighborhood are flat), and ended up putting in 1.45 miles. I felt good, but I woke up a little stiff in the shin. It’s not as bad as it has been, though, so I am hoping that resting it today will allow me to run two miles tomorrow. If things work out, I should be back to my half training starting tomorrow. I got my compression socks in the mail today, too. Here’s hoping they help.
I had a fairly productive day yesterday. I swept the patio and hosed it down. As you can see, we have no shortage of trees in our back yard, and fall has begun in earnest. Here is a picture right after I cleaned the patio yesterday.
And this is today.
It is going to be an ongoing battle until the trees are bare–which won’t be until after the first snow I’m sure. Oh well…
After cleaning the patio, Dan and I went to Menards to buy screws so he could fix the mailbox (thanks to an unfortunate accident, lol), and I wanted to buy safflower seed for my birds for the winter, and while there, we decided to look at outdoor carriage lights. We have three decorative lanterns on our garage, and they had seen better days. They got replaced with these
Right now, they are set up for Halloween Christmas (red and green lights in the other two), so I took a picture of the one my son has rigged to light up the Halloween lights, which explains the extension cord hanging out of it. Once they have normal light bulbs in place, I think they will look really nice; much classier than what we had.
Well, the shin has gotten progressively worse through the day. I am hoping beyond hope that tomorrow I’ll wake up pain free. I really don’t want to take another week off, but if I have to, I will. I’m off to take a walk now. Tomorrow, I really need to get some housecleaning done. Fun stuff!
