this weekend I ran my first half marathon and it was amazing! I ran grete's great gallop (part of the norwegian festival), named for grete waitz, who won nine nyc marathons between 1978-1988... more than any other runner in history.
I finished in one hour, forty-eight minutes, running 8:11 miles... I placed 1384 out of 3871, 359 out of the 1837 women, and 115 out of the 765 in my age group. I felt great through the entire run and amazing when I was done.
this was also my last of nine qualifying races for the 2009 ING New York Marathon... I am finally QUALIFIED and I can't wait to run it!
