congrats ahead of time! it feels so good to complete a race, no matter the distance. I race fairly frequently and I find that mixing treadmill and outdoor runs yeilds the best results for me. if I am on a treadmill, I will keep the speed fairly high with (almost) sprint intervals, setting inclines in between.
the site Running in the USA (http://www.runningintheusa.com/Races.asp) lists races in every state.
good luck!!

My First 5K advice
Posted by Jason B.
I have been planning to run my first 5K this year. I am not a great runner but I seem to be motivated enough to do it somewhat consistently. I have a few questions. 1. Is running on a treadmill good enough preperation for a real road 5k? in other words is it somewhat beneficial? second where do I go to find a local 5k run?
