Month in Re/Preview & Thank You

Posted Mar 04 2013 10:00am

Here’s a quick recap of my training this week:

dailymile 2/25 to 3/3 2013

  • Monday: 4 miles
  • Tuesday: 3.2 miles
  • Thursday: 1 mile
  • Friday: 10.16 miles
  • Sunday: 3.2 miles
  • Total: 21.57 miles for the week

I set a goal for myself to run 12 times during February. Instead of doing a mileage goal, I went with frequency. And I would have missed it by one if I hadn’t gone out for 1 mile on Thursday. I had gone to Utah for work and drove home that day. When I got home I took the dog and the stroller out for a quick mile. I had to stop to pick up puppy poopy, had to fix the cover so the sun wasn’t in Alex’s eyes, had to stare down a neighbor dog that charged us… it really was a slow mile! But I got my monthly goal for February.

I was excited to run 10 miles, that was my first double-digit mileage since coaching at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas half marathon in December 2011 ! I’m trying to get better about actually following a fueling plan, I’ve always been so scattered in that area for… well, my whole running life. Everything made me sick and I just avoided fuel or I was plagued with ED thoughts, thus I bonked. But I’ve been using Island Boost with great success so far. It’s seriously the best fuel I’ve tried.

I’m doing the same goal planning for March, I just decided to set a goal to run 15 times during the month. Yeah, I probably skimped on that… but I also want to keep my running enjoyable and stress-free.

I also want to thank everyone for weighing in on the doctor’s chastising me for my baby being too small . I got great comments, emails, messages… all very encouraging. Then that day when I picked Alexis up from school I mentioned to her teachers that the doctor said she needs more food, so I would probably be trying to bring her more bottles and would be bringing some solids for her soon. They told me they would feed her whatever I bring for her, but that they don’t agree with the doctor’s assessment. They said that she is developmentally ahead of the curve, they pointed out another baby in the class who is two months older than her and doesn’t move as much as she does. They commented on how good she is at moving stuff between her hands and going toward things that she wants to get.

AND THEN… my mom-in-law sent me an email with my hubby and some of his siblings weights at birth, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Alex is basically right in line with all of their growth patterns. So now I am not concerned about the baby’s growth at all!
