The Diet
Still doing green smoothies in the morning. I will admit to have 2 sodas this month. The first was at mile 36 of the High Line Canal 100K and it was the first soda I've swallowed since October 25th. The second, was an hour after finishing the High Line Canal 100K in celebration. Other than that, I'm still on the diet. Green smoothies every morning. Snacking all day on healthy foods. I do eat a bit of cheese now though. I have string cheese throughout the day, maybe 2 or 3 at most. And sometimes for lunch I'll have a grilled cheese sandwich. I continue to lose weight and feel great. In 2 weeks, I'll head to the doctors office for fasting blood work. The 6 month follow-up from my horrible testing back in October. So.. we'll see some more numbers based results on how the diet and training is benefiting my overall health.

The Running
Another great month of training. For the third straight month in a row, I ran 200 miles or more with 229.82 Miles in. It's only the first time since April of 2008 that I ran over 220 miles in a single month (239.85 mi Mar08). It's also my second highest mileage in a calendar month ever (239.85mi Mar08 : 228.32mi Jan08). Lastly, it marked the second most miles I've ever run in a 31 day period at 255.82 Miles (255.83 Mar07 : 254.33 Jun08). In the numbers I listed above, those magic years of 2007 and 2008 are ever present. As I continue to move forward with my training for the Vermont 100, Sub-24 hours and a PR are becoming more and more of a reality as opposed to a dream or merely a goal.

With 3 full months of solid training left before the race, I still have a bit of work to do. Since October I have been methodical. I rebuilt my base, created a training plan and have stuck to it 99% of the time, and my speed is getting ever faster. My ability to suffer through long runs and run again a day later is getting better as well. Bottom line, everything is coming together nicely.. I just need to keep it up.

Since October 1st, I've lost nearly 20 pounds and have run over 950 Miles. The three most crucial months lie ahead. Racing season is here. I just need to stay happy and healthy.

April Preview
April starts with the Rockin' K 50 Miler in Kanapolis State Park Kansas. More on this race later in the week. Then it's a full month of training ahead. I'm directing the 1st Annual Niwot's Challenge on April 20th. Then I'll be running the Dirty 30 course on April 27th as part of a training run in preparation for that early June race. I'm looking to lose another 2 pounds in April and putting in a comfortable 200 Mile Month.
