So I have always wanted to run a half marathon but have not had the opportunity to do so yet. I know that I love hitting the gym, taking classes and strength training but I have this love hate relationship with running. I love doing it when my stamina is up and I am having a good running day. But there are days that I dread lacing up my shoes and heading out the door. Therefore I am giving myself the goal of completing my first half marathon.
I decided on way to make sure I do it is to register for the event. That is exactly what I did last month. I registered both myself and my husband for the Santa Cruz half marathon. I am so lucky that my husband is as tolerant and supportive as he is. So step one is complete to running my first half.
Next I figured that if I tell myself its a goal and if I tell others I have this goal I will complete it. I am a very competitive person and when I say I am going to do something I will do it!!
SO here I am 4 months away from my half and Wednesday will be the first day running outside in the last couple months. I did a small 10k in October but have been hitting that love/hate relationship with my running up to now. I figure that I need to try harder to make this relationship work. No relationship is perfect in the beginning and I need to work at this one. Gosh…you would think that I am about the get engaged to my shoes. Well I plan on completing that half and hopefully completing a full by the end of the year.
This will be a year of many firsts, triumphs and memories!!
