Lululemon Prudential Run Club and Back Bay Social Club

Posted Feb 19 2013 6:31am

I went to the Lululemon Prudential Run Club a few weeks ago  and had a lot of fun.  Unfortunately I had to miss out last week due to a work deadline but because I had yesterday off, I was determined to make it to the run club.

I got to Lululemon a bit early and was looking around.  I desperately need more cold weather tops and pants.  I saw a few items I need to go back and try on because they are meant to be in my closet.  One item that caught my attention was the Vinyasa scarf that I have been eyeing for some time now.  The only problem will be deciding which pattern I want!  Good thing run club was starting because I like to try to at least wait until later in the week to indulge.

Let’s just say when I hear “Lululemon run club” I might think that there are mostly women there.  But last night it was just the opposite!  Only 3 ladies (including myself) and 5 gents!  I pretty much love our pre-run picture because it just seems a little goofy to me.

Part of the goof-factor might be because we had the infamous Andy Marx present last night.  He is a Lululemon Ambassador and co-founder of The Most Informal Running Club Ever (TMIRCE) .  I went to TMIRCE with my friend Morgan a few years ago and we got a free pair of New Balance shorts!  We didn’t end up staying for the food after but we should have!  I haven’t been back because I was in full training mode most of the time with my Cambridge Running Club (CRC) ladies. Now that I’m making a comeback from Boston 2012 hip overuse injury, I might try to taste the waters of all the other running clubs around.  I’ll always have my CRC pride and train with them, but it’s nice to branch out and explore and meet some new faces every once in a while!

I ended up running a little farther than I had anticipated (4.75 miles@8:26 avg pace), but it just meant that I got my weekly long run in.  After the run, the guys and I headed to the Back Bay Social Club for some free apps which were all DELICIOUS!  The ladies had to skedaddle but I wasn’t going to let this week’s chance for some tasty bites pass me by.

The Back Bay Social Club provided us with the wagyu meatloaf sliders, bbq duck confit sliders, and meat candy (keilbasa brown sugar & pineapple).  I got home and literally told Dave, “There was a big bowl of meat and it was delicious!”  I’ll have to convince Dave to go to run club sometime or to just go visit the Back Bay Social Club for dinner with him so he can try these dishes.  He actually sounded like he could be convinced to go to the run club…but maybe that’s because I was surrounded by 5 other men? :)  But to be honest, Dave is used to me being surrounded by men since I am a female engineer.

I am hoping a few of my friends join me for this run next week so I can multitask-run, catch up with them ,and eat free food!  It’s been tough for us to coordinate schedules, but I think it may happen for real this time.  Katie and Vanessa-I’m talking about you ladies!  Hannah and Kate…I better see you there soon too!
