Come and join Sparky George, the Bear Flag Runner and an old Marine, at the 15 th Hats Off America Red T-Shirt 10K Run/5K Run or Walk on Saturday, April 4 beginning at 10 a.m. at Sycamore Valley Park , 2101 Holbrook Drive , Danville , rain or shine. Entry fee is $35 per person. There is no entry fee for volunteers. All runners and volunteers will receive a red t-shirt.
Come meet the Gold Star Family, the Arroyaves, and let them know that their sacrifice, so we can keep our freedom, will never be forgotten.

All Hats Off America's fundraising efforts are directed to providing assistance to women with multiple children, currently Rachelle Arroyave, mother of three, 3-1/2, 7 and 11. Rachelle’s husband USMC Staff Sgt. Jimmy Arroyave died on April 15, 2004 during his second deployment to the Middle East. S.SGT Jimmy had proudly served in the Marine Corps for over 10-1/2 years and had planned on being a career Marine. He loved the Marine Corps and was proud to be a Marine and serve his country.
At the time of his death the Arroyaves had two young daughters, Vanessa, 6-1/2 and Natalia, 2-1/2 and Rachelle was two months pregnant with Jimmy who was born in Nov 15, 2004 .
Sparky has been running six miles a night, five nights a week, with a five-pound weight pack since September 15, 2002 and has run more than 11,000 miles (by the run date)and counting for Hats Off America, a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for the families of soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Hats Off America was created by Sparky George, owner of Classic Car Auto Restoration and Repair in San Ramon, a Vietnam vet and the “Bear Flag Runner” of Danville . In honor of service personnel being deployed in Iraq, the Bear Flag Runner has been running six miles a night, five days a week with a five-pound weight, regardless of weather, since September 15, 2002 . The Hats Off America organization also takes donations and pledges for the miles run.
