If running is an art, then Regents Park was the aerobic canvas for the LGN 5km finale and indeed DDB London proved that they were the slightly more zestful Picasso to McCann Erickson’s Monet.
While the Media Suits demonstrated fantastic high frequency running campaigns but in the day lacked required cut through for victory. With Manning Gottlieb OMD, Mediaedge:CIA and Zenith Optimedia proudly grabbing the next three team spots.
With hundreds of agency people getting all hot and sweaty together (for once with just reason), as the sun shone so did DDB London, managing to snaffle team glory and nab top spot on the podium with both James Hayhurst and Emer Stamp romping to victory, although Manning Gottlieb OMD’s Emma Cranston pushed DDB London’s Emer Stamp all the way, with both women clocking impressive sub 20minute times.
Next year the LGN 5km event will become the official NABS industry event and it is anticipated to be an even bigger carnival of running with more media agencies aiming to break the DDB stranglehold. DDB London’s CEO even threw down the following challenge:
‘We’re delighted to have successfully defended our crown once again. DDB throws down the gauntlet to any agency or media business to come and have a go if they think they’re fast enough. Not only will it make them fitter, but NABS will benefit.’
(Stephen Woodford Chairman and CEO, DDB UK, President NABS)
