Let the celebrations continue!

HAPPY HUMPDAY ISRAELI INDEPENDENCE DAY!

We had such a good time last night! After a nice Israeli dinner with plenty of hummus and salad, we headed to the living room for some FOOTBALL. You know the real thing which involves feet kicking a ball…Sorry, you know I am a fan of all-things-American but it does not make sense to me why football would involve a ball getting thrown.

Unfortunately, Barcelona did not lose. There is always next week though. My uncle was over at the house and we had such an awesome time catching up and joking around. Once the game hit half time, we tuned in for some Israeli TV which showed the celebrations from home. That’s when it finally hit me that I am missing Israel like crazy. But I loved watching the celebrations, singing the songs and just pretending like I was there.

Today was pretty much filled with watching Israeli TV to feel like I am there. As soon as I got out of work I spent the afternoon with my ma hearing watching the shows while vacuuming. Productive too!

Morning Run

The forecast said RAIN so I was afraid I won’t be able to make it outside. But the clouds spared me (for just a couple of hours) and I was able to catch some sun. Still cold though!

I had my nice Israeli tunes on so that was pleasant. But I was still SORE. My lunges from yesterday really affected my muscles and once again it felt like I was dragging my legs rather than having them move at their own will.

My tactic for this kind of situation is to just let my body set its pace rather and accept that it is slower. Actually, I only end up running 2 extra minutes so it really isn’t a big deal. Mentally, though, it feels like I am making a decision between run and don’t run.

Here are my stats for 6.3 KM:

Running Time

Average HR

Highest HR

40 minutes164 BPM172 BPM

TOMORROW – my schedule says SPEED TRAINING, but I am not sure whether or not my legs can handle it. Or my upper body as a matter of fact. 90 minutes of vacuuming tends to wear my shoulders out. My left foot (the one that was originally injured back in February) is starting to hurt a little. I thought of moving my long run for tomorrow (read: wake up 30 minutes earlier) but I really do need to catch up with some sleep.

Strength Training

I am gonna stick the stretches in here too…

Stretching was essential today. I am sore and stiff and unfortunately, not a fan of yoga (although I tried very hard to become one). I did FitSugar’s Yoga Poses for Runners routine and then drew the alphabet with my toes in the air to get my ankle working. ANKLE is always the source of my foot problems.

Other strength moves:

  • 50 crunches

  • 25 oblique crunches (per side)
  • The Madonna (check Tracy’s routineherefor more details)
  • Super shrug (check Tracy’s routineherefor more details)
  • Power Curl (check Tracy’s routineherefor more details)
  • 25 Side planks (per side)

  • Other bit e s and pieces include….

      • Bobbi’s Simple Life Challenge – I was already motivated enough to do something with my nails tonight. Check it out ya’ll!
      • My egg whites + cucumbers in brine are still not here!
      • WordPress comment reply via e-mail is NOT working for me. Any ideas why?
      • Planning a mexi-meal a – la – Gliding – Calm tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
      • Going to see my driving instructor tomorrow! I haven’t seen him in over a week and I have an amazing gift of Merci, Ferrero Rocher and Mon Chéri
