Since I haven't posted for a while, this will be a mix of the last few weeks. This morning I volunteered with one of my friends at the Miracle Kids Triathlon. Our other friend's son was participating in the event. It was his first triathlon and he did great. I was just in awe at these kids. They never gave up and were so full of energy. It was such a chilly morning and the kids were all lined up to start the swim. They had the younger kids wait until the older kids were done on the course so no collisions occurred as the running and biking courses crossed in some spots. As we were waiting for the younger kids to start so we could cheer on my friends son, I looked over and saw a huddle of boys...as we got closer, we discovered they were building a sand castle. Apparently, they weren't stressed about the race! If we all could only let our worries pass us by right? My hands were getting sweaty and I was only watching the race. My friend's son did great and we had to hustle on the course just to make it to the next spot to see him he was going so fast. It was great to see the kids so motivated. Last week I took a trip up the north shore with one of my friends for three days. We checked out ten state parks, half of which, I'd already seen but it was fun. We did some light hiking as well on the Superior Hiking Trail. If I could, I'd move up to northern MN in a second. I just love the outdoors and could spend hours on the hiking trails. My favorite park was Judge Magney. It is wayyyy up north. But beautiful. I don't think I've seen anything I've liked more yet in MN. It had a hilly hike in but one of the best waterfalls which are my favorite. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to do some kayaking on the Cannon River or Cannon Lake. Not sure which yet. That is, assuming I can get my Yakima to cooperate! Next time, I hope to upload pictures from LTF Tri and my trip to Rice Lake State Park.
