I have two favorite days of the week: Thursday & Saturday. .. Okay, I have three favorite days.. Friday is also a favorite, mostly because it is followed my Saturday.
Thursday’s are my favorite because this is usually the day Chris gets home if he has been working out of town. Unfortunately this week he is STILL gone.
Fridays: end of the work week, and only a few hours until long-run Saturday.
Saturdays: long run day! I absolutely adore long run days. I have to, how else could I get up at 3:45am Saturday after Saturday? I might not always have the best run, and I might not be in the best mood, but I cherish the 90+ minutes that I get to spend with my friends.

Today started out no differently, alarm went off at 3:45, I snoozed it until 4. Got up, ate breakfast, got dressed, and rushed out the door at 5:15. I was almost late to the meet up spot, but good luck (and fast driving) had me arrive just in the knick of time.
It was incredibly humid this morning – When we started out the temps were hovering in the 70’s, and approximately 1,000,000% humidity {is it EVER going to cool down?}. I had to pee, but unfortunately there are no bathroom where we start in Longleaf, and we were starting to late to be able to use the bathroom at a nearby Strider house.. so I whimpered a little and the held it for the next 5 miles.
My first 5 miles were not fun. I ran in the back of the pack {which worked out since they front of the pack nearly got eaten by a big black snake!!} – I struggled to keep my pace steady, I felt like I was all over the place. My breathing was heavy, and I just felt out of it.
We hit the Starkey Park bathrooms around mile 5.3 – I finally got to pee, then Shannon & I turned around and headed pack to our starting point. The last 5 miles were somewhat better. The strap on my watch strap broke (again) so I didn’t know what pace we were running for the duration of the return trip.
I felt like we were hauling ass …. turns out we weren’t.
This was my last long run before the Halloween Halfathon next weekend. I JUST registered for it..literally, while I was writing this post I remembered I needed to register so I went ahead and did it before I forgot.
_____
After we finished our run we grabbed some coffee from a local coffee joint then I headed over to The Shops at Wiregrass for the Pasco County Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k {walk}.
The walk started at 9.. but 10 we had walked 1.5 miles ….. uhm.. I’m all for fundraising events, but an hour to walk 1.5 miles? Couldn’t do it. After the first lap I dipped out and headed home. Yell at me if you’d like, but I was hot, stinky & starving.
I raised money for the event individually and I also helped organize a bingo fundraiser – I felt like I did my part and didn’t feel to horrible about leaving the walk early.
_____
Now I’m just moping around the house waiting for Chris to get off work. I’m planning on doing some food prep for the coming week, and possibly some yoga..
We’ll see what the rest of the day brings.
How’s your weekend shaping up? Any races?
I know Allie ran a half marathon this morning! (Congrats girl!)
