I've had a toenail on my left pinkie toe that has been bugging me for a while because it's all sorta messed up and I can't apply nail polish to it evenly :) It occurred to me recently that it might be ingrown. I was looking at it over the weekend and yep. I think that's pretty much the case. Tavi was home last night and she has had one before and told me that's what it is. Good thing it doesn't bother me too much, but it might be infected. It really doesn't look too bad or too severe but still...
My health insurance sucks. I can't get in until Oct 30th even though I told them a reason for my apt was concerns about my breathing. Yeah that's right. I told them that and they told me that was the earliest I can get in. So I guess I'll wait until then for my toenail since I've been waiting anyway. I'm sure changing my insurance on Jan 1 - that's for sure. HMO's are worthless. People must die on HMO plans waiting for care...
Hopefully my toe doesn't fall off before the end of the month.
Online registration is open for the Twin Peaks Ultra. The race is only 122 days away and the first preview run (the longest) is coming up on Nov 4th!
Santa Barbara 9 Trails is coming up in 51 days. I had a guy stop by my blog yesterday and IM me and tell me a little about the race. He sent me some pics he took as well. It was very cool and got me so excited! The race sold out about 1 week ago ( in fact it oversold ) so I'm glad I'm in. It does kinda freak me out a little bit being that it's all hills.
Anyone have good ideas for training for the hills? I run hills all the time on my runs, but I think repeats are probably in order. I was thinking once a week doing repeats that are 100-200 meters and moderately steep. Should I do longer repeats on less steep terrain? Shorter repeats on really steep terrain? etc. there is a mile stretch in this race that is 17% grade or something like that and 10,000 feet of climbing overall.
Anyway, I feel like I'm babbling now. I'm looking forward to a 17 miles training run this weekend and hopefully I won't crash in burn like at my half!
