I was on Facebook this morning and I saw a post from the that registration prices for the New Jersey Ultra Festival were going up at midnight.
I knew they had a bunch of shorter races in the Winter/Spring and I knew they organized some serious ultra races later in the season, but how did I not know about this?
Clicking the link I saw that they have an Ultra Festival in March with a Trail Marathon, 50k, 50 miler, 100k and a 100 miler.
I recently registered for my first Ultra, a trail 50k in May, . Registering for that made me feel pretty bad ass.
I've been preparing for TNFEC by training on some pretty tough trails in the Hudson Highlands, but this sounds like it may be just the opportunity I've been looking for. A long organized trail run that I can test my skills and training on before I attempt Bear Mountain.
I'll be able to experience the Ultra scene as I've never done anything longer than 26.2. I'll see the real Bad Ass runners on the same loop I'll be running.
I took the bait and impulsively registered for the marathon.
I registered for a marathon that's only 2 months away after only thinking about it for only a few minutes (just to make sure I had nothing else planned that weekend).
The shortest race at the event, it almost feels like I registered for the Kids race at a Weekend Marathon Festival. So much for being a bad ass!
