I spend the day Saturday at one ...

Posted May 22 2009 10:42pm

Lake I spend the day Saturday at one of the Hagg Lake aid stations with Fuzz, Liz & Kamm.  We had a good crew and a good spot.  It was the last aid station for the 25K runners before they hit the finish and the last for the 50K runners who were on their second loop.  By the time I arrived just before 10AM many of the top 50K runners had already passed through on their first loop.

It was a pretty good day for Oregon in February.  No rain and almost warm at times.  A few brave runners went shirtless or wore nearly nothing.  There was supposedly no mud though we did see quite a few people come through with mud covering their legs (and some splattered up to their necks).

The Portland Trail Runners were represented in the 25K with Mo, Tony, Stefanie & Julie.  Mo took home top honors for our group as well as first in her age group.  Congrats Mo!!  Stefanie took home top mud honors as you will see by the picture below.

Sean Meissner (4th overall) won the costume contest (there wasn' t really a contest) with a great Richard Simmons outfit.  Can you believe he wore that outfit and wig and still finished 4th??

Dagan eventually showed up at our aid station waiting for Krissy and I got to chat with him a bit.  We talked about the woman who was out in front and none of seemed to know who she was (she was from Boise).  Krissy came through a short while after her followed by Devon.  This would be the final finsih order and amazingly, these top 3 women ALL broke the previous record on this course (held by Kami Semick)

Ronda and Stacey put on a great race and I just may have to enter myself in the 50K next year.  There have been two good years in a row at this race so next year might be a doozy!!
