It sounds like you're making great progress! Keep it up! It is a good idea, though, to alternate longer and shorter runs. Your body needs at least 48 hours to recover from the stress of a long run, and doing a short run the next day gives your body the time it needs for recovery. Running actually destroys body cells, and during the rest or cross training afterwards, your body rebuilds itself and in the process becomes stronger.
