I'm turning 24 tomorrow! What are you looking forward to this year?

In addition to ringing in my 24th early, my weekend included lots of sleep, food and running. It got up to 42 degrees today-- practically tropical--and it was nice to finally run in single layers without gloves or the ear warmer.
After a quick six-miler around Astoria yesterday morning, it was off to Brooklyn to celebrate the birthdays at Carla and Jenny 's apartment (JPax is a fellow Valentine baby) with a potluck brunch. Since a few others dibsed the savory dishes, I decided to go with a V-Day variation of last month's alfajores
After sleeping in again this morning, I took off for an eight-miler across the bridge and around Central Park. I was dismayed to see that the path around the reservoir is still iced over. Instead, I went further up the UES before turning back around to catch the train at 59th and Lex. After lounging at home for a bit, I ventured over to Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee Co. They had some new interesting-looking cream cheese flavors like Nutella and avocado. But I decided to go with what I was craving to begin with: a whole-wheat everything bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese. Yummm.
I remembered to snap this after inhaling the first half. Funny how BK Bagels calls their regular-sized bagels "minis."
Tomorrow's the actual b-day. Why is Valentine's Day not a paid holiday off? Anyway, after work I'll be going out for a yummy dinner with Carla. Even though most of the "official" festivities are over, I have a feeling my 24th year will be an exciting one. Here are some things I'm looking forward to so far -My next race, the NYRR Colon Cancer Challenge 15K . I'm excited that this late-March race will be a spring one (maybe I'll be running in shorts-sans-tights by then?), and the 11:15 a.m. start time.
-Working out the details on ditching NYC this year.
-Signing up for and running a handful of upcoming races to help me power through the months in between, and round out this year's NYRR 9+1 program to run the NYC marathon in 2012.
-My first visit back to my alma mater since graduation (May 2009) in April for The Hofstra Chronicle 's reunion/75th anniversary.
-My next real vacation. My friend Marissa and I have tickets (purchased way back in September, and flights and hotel booked last month) to this year's Country Music Association Festival in June. It's four days/nights of outdoor concerts in Nashville and features about every big-name performer in the industry. I'm preparing by listening to my hometown's country radio station at work every day. We are especially psyched to see Reba . Cannot wait!
