Huffin' and Puffin' through "Insanity" Workout DVDs

Robby is now 3 months, 2 weeks old! At his last pediatrician appointment he's now 24.5" long and 14 lbs, 3 oz. He's growing and thriving with leaps and bounds!
He is also sleeping through the night, for 6-9 hours at a stretch. Wow, what a difference this makes for mommy! I've abandoned those damn mid-day naps that I hated so much. I'm less cranky and irritable ... a much better mommy, wife, daughter and sister to all!
This new energy I have from more sleep has allowed me to slowly increase my running. I also started using the Insanity workout DVDs on the days I have no one to watch Robby. Robby joins me in the basement in his bouncy seat and watches mommy do squat thrusts, jumping jacks and other crazy moves to burn off these last few baby pounds! It keeps him entertained, I think. Or, he sleeps through it, which is fun too!
Home workout DVDs are certainly not my favorite choice of workout - running is, of course! However, they are certainly convenient with a newborn. I also never liked workout DVDs because I felt they weren't challenging enough for me.
But boy oh boy, these Insanity workout DVDs kick my butt!
Okay, I realize I'm still in a bit of rough shape after having a baby. But I don't huff and puff as much on my runs as I did yesterday morning with the cardio circuit DVD. It was a lot of plyometric moves - basically tons of jumping - which works me out in ways I'm not used to.
My body is so used to the motion of running and cycling. So doing these Insanity workouts really challenges my muscles in a new way. I was DRIPPING sweat and had to take a few breathing breaks as I jumped in the air, did a squat thrust, then four push ups, run in place in the plank position, then jump back up into the air to repeat all over again.
Just another way for this RunBuggy running mama to get out her excess energy and try to fit back into her skinny jeans!
