I ran cross country in high school, but it has been over a year since I've trained. I have run on and off but never consistently. I am hoping to get back into competing shape but I'm not 100% sure of the best way to do so. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
http://runninginjuryfree.org/2008/09/beginning-running.html Since you've been away from running for a year, you're basically starting over. You'll probably find that the walking for half an hour is easy for you, and you can start to mix running in with the walking. Use the 10% rule to determine the amount of increases to make in your running. Also, following the heavy/light rule such that you have at least 48 hours after each strenuous run before the next strenuous run.
