A couple of days ago I warned you not to dress like a bum while out running, lest you be mistaken for a vagrant . Today we have an even more serious example of what can go wrong through an innocent choice of running apparel.
Three Pennsylvania fourth-graders at recess told teachers they saw a man in a tree-lined area next to the school with a firearm, wearing dark clothes and a ski mask. The school was immediately placed in lockdown, police and parents were notified, and 75 officers responded, including 30 from an area SWAT team.
After a thorough search of the area, police were led to a neighborhood home, where they discovered the culprit was a jogger , unarmed in any way, and wearing a hood, not a ski mask.
Of course we’re all happy that it was just a mistake and the kids are safe, but it could have been very dangerous for the innocent jogger as well. That’s why I’m suggesting everyone start wearing one of these.
