
There are three basic types of shoes: neutral, stability, and motion-control. It's easy to get the wrong type of shoe. Your best bet is to go to a good running store and have the clerk observe you walking and jogging. Some stores video you so you can see yourself as the clerk explains things. Stay away from the mall-type shoe stores that likely have clerks who are not trained in shoe selection.
