So I was lucky enough to have the day off from work. I was thinking I would just be lazy… but we know that isn’t going to happen…so I went to the gym to get in a short 2.5 mile run and hit the sauna. The sauna is the best thing that the gym has. I actually think the main reason why I keep my gym membership is that wonderful sauna. My muscles thank me every time. If you have never used the sauna at your gym you should really try it. At first you will feel like you are in the Sahara Desert but just remember you get used to it. I started spending about 5 minutes after every workout. Today I was able to spend 15 minutes and it felt great. Plus how awesome to sweat out those toxins in your body.
After my gym workout I decided to try a new Lentil Soup recipe. I changed to recipe a little by putting it in the crock pot instead and letting it cook for 8-10 hours. I love being able to throw everything in a pot and let it do its thing while I get other things done. The crock pot really helps me eat healthy when I am having a super busy day.
Considering that my hubby had to work today he wasn’t able to workout with me in the morning. When he got home we went for a short 2 mile run. I know most people would say I am crazy doing 2 workouts in one day. Have you ever tried it? I used to think it was a crazy idea but I totally love it. I obviously do not do this all the time but it gives me this amazing amount of energy and my second run is normally even better than the first one. Remember our bodies are so much stronger than we give them credit for.
Our dog Lola went with us on our afternoon run and enjoyed herself a lot. She is such a sweetheart and loves to run circles on the grass as we run down the sidewalk. Now I do not promote dogs going on people’s nice lawn in front of their houses but she is just so happy I have to let her run a little. Plus it’s not like she is leaving them a “present”. We are good doggie owners and make sure to pick up any presents she leaves behind. Here is Lola at the end of our run resting on the nice cold cement.
Well we are a little under 3 weeks away from our 10k and about 7 weeks from our first Half Marathon. We will be doing some strength training tomorrow and then out for another run on Wednesday.
