Half Marathoning

Posted Jul 07 2010 12:00am

On September 26, we will be running 13.1 miles. EEK.

I have full faith that we can make this happen :) Hubby and I were both just saying how running is addictive because you can see improvement so quickly. It’s a great feeling!!

Tonight I did some speedwork on the treadmill (all @ 1% incline)

  • 3 min warm up
  • 2 min @ 6.6 mph (fast); 2 min @ 6.0 mph (steady)
  • 2 min @ 6.7 mph; 2 min @ 6.0 mph
  • 1 min walking break
  • 2 min @ 6.8 mph; 2 min @ 6.0 mph
  • 2 min @ 6.9 mph; 2 min @ 6.0 mph
  • 1 min walking break
  • 4 min @ 7.0 mph
  • 4 min @ 6.0 mph
  • cool down

30 min, 2.96 miles.

… which leads me to believe that I would kill a 5k right about now. My definition of kill = less than 30 min ;-)

After speed demon drills, I did some strength training on the weight machines, focusing on my arms, and then hit the stability ball/mat for some core work. My new go-to ab move?

Medicine Ball Twists. Feel. the. burn.

Yummy Food Creation of the Day: Blueberry Muffin Oatmeal.

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • tsp vanilla
  • handfull of blueberries
  • 1 leftover blueberry muffin

Hurray for breakfast!!

As I mentioned yesterday , I ran off today to get my hair cut. Here’s the before:

In the midst of running home and eating dinner before heading off to the gym, I forgot to snap a for realsies picture. However, this is the result of me trying to tie my hair up before going for a run:

I felt like a desperate mom whose newborn baby doesn’t have enough hair to put one of those cute bows in. You know who I’m talking about? No, that was just my mom? Okay… nevermind ;-)

I’ll just have to keep you in suspense until tomorrow!!

Frugal Minded Tip of the Day: Become a facebook fan of your favorite brand. I snagged a Buy One Get One coupon from Bear Naked today via FB!! Love it.
