Well, at least I think I'll do the test tomorrow. As most mommies know, this should be done between weeks 25-28. I'm at 26 right now. I've been putting this off and I don't know why. Maybe it's because I've been exercising, eating well, gaining the appropriate amount of weight... and I really don't want to be inconvenienced?
I have to fast 10-12 hours prior to the test. Tonight is my very suburban-like Bunko dice game where 11 moms and me, the mom-to-be, play a no-thinking-required game of tossing dice while munching on M&Ms and sipping wine (or in my case, water). I usually love the wine part, but since becoming pregnant I eat enough M&Ms or other chocolaty treasures to make myself feel sick once the night is over! No, I still don't think I have gestational diabetes.
So I'm not sure if doing the gestational diabetes test is the best thing after Bunko night, even if I do fast for 12 hours. That means I can't have any more treats after 9:30 PM to make the 10-hour window. Oh, all this rationalizing. Tomorrow is the perfect morning to do it because I don't plan on going to the gym or running in the morning.
Well, that's my short post for the day. Too many other things were going on to write more! Check out my Food Chat post, "Eating for Two?" if you are interested in reading my RD-perspective on nutrition during pregnancy.
