First Track Workout of the Season!

Posted Apr 12 2011 5:27pm

Today marked the start of NJOY Racing’s weekly track workouts!   Needless to say, I’m sooo sleepy, which means I’m too tired to be witty right now.  Because I love my bed and dislike working (I need to start buying lotto tix so I can get rich quick), I normally get out of bed at 7:20.  By 7:20 this morning, I had completed a hard workout!  I had a half day today (update on this afternoon’s activities in Lincoln Square will be coming later ;) ), so I’m on the couch now watching DVRed episodes of the Bold and the Beautiful.

I love to hate this idiotic soap.

Lincoln Square is a cute neighborhood!

Today’s workout was 1 mile warmup, drills (with lots of hip work!) and 8×200 (with 100 recovery) and 4×100 (100 recovery).  I ran back to the gym to get a lot of stretching and foam rolling.  Speedwork in the cold followed by sitting at my desk all day = tight muscles. I didn’t feel too strong during the workout, but I think that’s to be expected after taking a winter off from sprinting :)

Pace is off, I didn't stop the clock during drills, recovery and cool down.

Tomorrow night is 5K time trial.  Kimberly will use our times to forecast pacing for training runs.  So I will be going to bed early so I am refreshed for the run!

And now I will leave you with some pretty pics from this morning… I’m too braindead to write anything else. Wahhhh wahhhh.

Sun hitting random Northwestern building

This view makes track workouts tolerable

En route to the track - orange sky over Lake Mich

Lake Shore Drive - post workout

Awesome blue skies while walking to work!

Not from this morning, but I felt the need to snap this shot this afternoon. Home sweet Armitage Ave :)

I’ve got tutoring tonight and then committee meeting for Legs for Literacy 5K… Perhaps if my little one draws something funny, I will write a new post.  If not, talk to you tomorrow, blog friends!
