It's been over 100 degrees in Tennessee for over a week. It's hot. We've had breaking temperature records for days and the next few days aren't looking any cooler. That's why it's best to get up early and run before the really high temps set in.
On Saturday, Greg and I woke up at 4am so that we could get on the road early. Our niece, Maddie, was turning one and we were headed to her birthday party in Hendersonville.
So since we were leaving so early in the morning, it would work out perfectly for Amy and I to meet for a morning run at Percy Warner Park on the way into town. It was a good plan anyway.
I ended up getting there around 9am and by that time, it's already in the upper 90's. But like the hardcore, dedicated runners that we are, we decided to run anyway. And although we had a plan of running 8 miles or so, the heat told our bodies that it just wasn't happenin.
We did get in a good 5 miles and I think it's fair to say that we did a bit of a hill workout that day too. We were feelin the burn.
