Election day is in 11 days. In many places, including CA you can vote early. I voted in Oregon by mail earlier this week.
Tens of millions of dollars are being spent on the California ballot initiative known as "Prop 8". This initiative seeks to change the current law and constitution of California to ban same sex marriage. I can think of a better use for all that money - can't you? While no longer a California voter, I know many of my blog readers live there.
You can make a difference by voting NO on Prop 8. Let's keep the constitution the way it is instead of writing a religious belief into it - shall we? I AM Christian. I do believe our country was founded on Christian principles. However, we are a free country and imposing religious beliefs on those who are not religious is not part of any freedom I recognize. Jesus would vote no on Prop 8. Jesus never ONCE talked about homosexuality and you would think if it was such a concern he would have said something. One church has poured over 10 million dollars into passing this proposition (to "protect the sanctity of marriage) which I find interesting coming from a church that still speaks of polygamy in their church literature.
Check out this great Mac/Windows parody video that talks about "protecting the sanctity of marriage".
Some more "Mac/Windows" Prop 8 videos can be watched on YouTube.
Do you think Prop 8 will change what your kids are taught about marriage in school?
Remember, Californians, Vote NO on Proposition 8!
Just Added - Check out this blackmail letter being sent out by the "yes on 8 campaign" to companies who support "no on 8".
An exerpt reads: "Were you to elect not to donate comparability, it would be a clear indication that you are in opposition to traditional marriage. You would leave us no other reasonable assumption. The names of any companies and organization that choose not to donate in a like manner to protectmarriage.com but have given to Equality California will be published." Since when are threat letters a family value?
