Date night and Yoga

Posted Aug 20 2012 6:44am

Saturday night was a nice date night for Dave and I. We visited Cibo Matt o for dinner in Mansfield, MA.

We had a short wait so we decided to sit at the bar and grab a drink.  I got a malbec and Dave got a beer.  Once we got seated they brought over bread and oil and we ordered a caeser salad to split.  I love when the restaurants split the salad on two plates for you!  It makes it so much easier!

We then decided to order a pizza and an appetizer instead of two meals.  For the app we went with the brick oven fired spiced chicken wing.  The wings weren’t spicy, but they had great flavor and they had the perfect amount of crisp to them!  I love when chicken wings have this crisp.  Mmm…I could eat some more right now!  For our pizza, we got the large harvest pie which had roasted butternut squash, fontina cheese, fried sage and caramelized onion, and fresh mozzarella.  The pizza was good but I felt like I needed some sort of different texture on top…some sort of crunchy besides the crust.  But even without the crunchy factor, I still liked the pizza.  It’s not my favorite pizza, but a pretty good deal because it was a huge serving and had different toppings than your typical pizza toppings!

After dinner we headed over to Sweet ‘n Crafty for ice cream.  We used to go there a lot when we were in high school and then walk by a nearby pond and always like to go for memories.  I got the coconut ice cream and Dave got the coffee oreo and of course we both got chocolate sprinkles!

We were going to attempt to watch Hunger Games but realized it was getting late for us and we watched another episode of the Newsroom .  It was a perfect night of Dave and relaxation.  I need those after traveling around all summer!

To finish up the weekend, I got up early yesterday to do the Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown and then got a 15 min swim in. I swam in Dave’s parent’s outdoor pool which was nice because it isn’t . I felt special because I was taking a break and noticed Dave moved to the downstairs kitchen table to do work. He was originally working upstairs but he wanted to make sure I didn’t drown!

My swim felt good, but I had to hurry up to get back to Somerville so that I could go to the Boston Bruncher’s brunch at M3 . My recap is to come later! I literally felt like I needed to be rolled out of that restaurant. They fed us with so many delicious dishes that I thought I might go into full on food coma.

Tonight I am heading to Back Bay Yoga with a friend of mine since we have a few classes left from our LivingSocial deal and I need to work off some of those brunch calories.  Seriously…they fed us SO much food!  Plus…that means I will have 3 days of yoga in a row. This 30 day yoga challenge will be challenging but definitely fun. Check out the page I started for the challenge! I am going to try to see if I can get some sort of prizes for some of the participants donated and also some ways for us to keep motivating one another!

Happy Monday everyone!

Do you have date nights with your significant other?

We usually try to save one weekend night just for us!  It’s been tough this summer because we have lots of weddings and what not, so this weekend was a nice break!

What is one weekend activity you always look forward to?

SLEEP! :)
