Crossing the (Duct) Tape

Posted Jun 24 2013 11:43am

A few weeks ago, New-Skin was doing a promo for National Running Day and released a survey that claimed, among other things, that nearly one-third of runners “resort to common household products like mouthwash, petroleum jelly and duct tape so they can keep running through cuts, scrapes and blisters.”

Well, nothing about runners would surprise me, but I had never seen anyone at a road race or jogging around my neighborhood decked out in duct tape. But my eyes were opened after a little Internet research. For example, who knew that duct tape was at the forefront of the minimalist movement?

Or that real men use it to prevent chafing (rrrrripppp! Aaaaah!)…

Or that the famous Duck Brand duct tape actually has an entire web page devoted to uses for runners ?

My own contribution is this comprehensive cold weather/protective suit for running in all conditions.
