Crap, what I have gotten myself into?

Posted Nov 21 2008 4:49pm
*note: I think i've already used this title.

I think I'm in the 50's on number of days until the GA ING Marathon. At any rate, T and I had to revamp our schedule AGAIN for the 8 week countdown. I think we'll still get 2 20-milers in. I'm sure of it. But, geez how does time slip by so fast. I'm betting that alot of people who are running this are getting ready to begin a taper while T and I are just getting into some longer runs....like I've said before "we've never met a taper that we liked", so if you see us running 18 miles the week prior to the marathon, just wave and smile...because yes, we know that we have procrastinated.

I ran 3 miles on the dreadmill today. I'm trying something old, but reinstituted. Running at lunch. Let's see how it goes. I really enjoy being on the treadmill because I got to watch half of an episode of Dr Phil. That's all I enjoy about it. I have to stop every mile or so because my legs feel funny, like they are going to collapse at any moment. So, I stop. Drink some water. And drudge back. I'm not a typical viewer of Dr Phil's. Nothing against him or anything, but I'm usually at work. But I can't wait until Wednesday's episode ("overweight women and the men who love them" The teaser was a line by one of those men...it went like this (I can't remember exactly what he said...):

Man: I love table top butts!

Dr Phil: Table top butts? Never heard of it.

Man: They're butt's so big that they stick out like shelf. I can rest my remote on it.

I can't believe that I have to go to work everyday and miss this quality television. Guess that's what we have Tivo for, right???

Okay, so secretly I hate running on the treadmill but I'm also trying something else new...it's a process where I convince myself that things I hate (like studying) are fun ("Oh my gosh, I can't believe I get to read ANOTHER chapter in my Managerial Accounting book! I mean, all those people who spent Saturday outside because it was nice and sunny are LOSERS!") It works a little bit.

In other news, I told myself that I wasn't going to post today because all I would do is complain about how busy I am. And I'm even boring myself with that routine. So, no more talk about how busy I am, or how hard school is, or how I can't get anything done for all of the studying. My mom reminded me this weekend that she completed graduate school with 3 kids at home, while working 5 days a week, and driving 6 hours every Thursday night for class all day on Friday (Univ of South Alabama), just to turn around on Saturday morning and drive back so that she could go back to work on Sunday. Oh, and my dad had been temporarily transferred to Ohio for that 2 years, so she was all alone taking care of us. Luckily we were teenagers so we could stay by ourselves (right...). So, anyway no more complaining. Just suck it up and realize that it just another 19 months out of my life, and then I will be DONE!

Plan for the week:
5 miles tomorrow (2 on the indoor track and 3 on the dreadmill)
3 miles Wednesday (you know the place...can't miss Dr Phil!)
8 miles Thursday (place to be determined but surely outside...I'd drop dead if I had to stay on the treadmill that long)
16 miles on Saturday.

And I'm super excited, just can't wait, may-even-get-up-early Saturday for it!

Have a great week everyone!
