could bruising on the knee be related to sore quad muscles?

my upper front thigh muscles were sore from playing ball.  one week later i was playing again and went to run to first base.  i was immedialtely stricken with pain in the quad (?) muscles and couldn't barely walk.  after a brief rest, i could walk but definitely not run.  about 4 days later i started bruising on my knee and a little on my inner thigh.  one knee is covered with a nasty bruise and the other is a smaller bruise.  could this bruising be associated with the thigh muscle?
