Color Me Green

I’ve been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with GREEN since I woke up.

Before heading to the gym and doing a speed workout, I made a GREEN smoothie.

I blended (enough for 2):

  • 2 hand fulls of Kale
  • 1 Fuji Apple, peeled and cored
  • 2 large Carrots
  • 1 Pineapple ring
  • 1 whole Banana
  • 3 cups of Water
  • 1 tsp Agave
  • less than 1/2 scoop of Vega Whole Food Optimizer

At the gym, I ran my heart out in my BIC Skinny Minnie GREEN Polka Dot Headband!

 

And for the rest of today, I’m sporting my favorite shirt… which happens to be GREEN!

Perhaps later, I’ll find me some GREEN vegan beer? I’ll get back to you on that.

For now, I want to share a little more about my speed workout.

I’ve been integrating speed into my workouts 1x/week and I noticed a great improvement in my long distance running pace! The workouts usually go something like this:

  • Warm up: 1 mile @ 4.0-6.0 mph
  • 1.0-1.5 miles @ 7.1
  • 1.5-1.75 @6.0
  • 1.75-2.25 miles @ 7.2
  • 2.25-2.5 @ 6.0
  • 2.5-3.0 @ 7.3
  • 3.0-3.25 @ 6.0
  • 3.25-3.75 @ 7.4-7.8
  • Cool down: 3.75-4.0 @ 6.0

Today I did 4  .5  mile “sprints”. I usually do any where from 4 to 8, depending on how I’m feeling. This is essentially a Yass0 800 workout, which you can read more about here.
