December? Really? Wow, this year is just flying by!
Over the last few days, I have had a song swirling around in my head, well, actually not the entire song, just---Ch..Ch..Ch..Ch..Changes!! Yes, David Bowie has been in my head!
Over the past few months, our family has definitely gone through some changes, not the least of which was our move back to Georgia!
This Thanksgiving, although nice, was definitely a change from previous years. Alex and Nick were not able to visit us and instead, they spent Thanksgiving at Nick's house. Alex prepared the meal (vegetarian) and it sounds like they had a nice time, but we sure did miss them here! Our other kids and grandkids weren't able to join us either, so it was just Ray, Conor and I, with my brother Jimmy, sister-in-law and their kids. The meal was wonderful....the company was great, and yet...it just wasn't the same. No planning meals and cooking with Ray and the kids, or playing endless games of Rummikub or Scattergories after dinner!
We are making plans this week to get Alex and Nick down for Christmas and that makes me feel better about not being with them for Thanksgiving!
We can't go through life without change...In fact, CHANGE is the only certainty in life. We often have no control over the changes that occur...only over the way we respond to these changes. We can despair over the change, or we can look forward, with excitement to the possibilities that the change may present. After all, not ALL changes are unpleasant!
Although we miss our loved ones that we left behind in the Northeast, it has been wonderful getting to see our friends and family that we left behind here, when we moved away! Although this move has been bittersweet for many reasons....I am still very THANKFUL and BLESSED!
Tomorrow I will be talking a bit about some CHANGES that I have PLANNED for my life and I am definitely looking forward to getting started on them! Until then----
