Cambridge 1 and Coconut Ice Cream

Posted May 28 2012 10:03am

Last night I met up with Sarah and her fiancé Jim at Russell House Tavern for a drink.  Last time we were at this restaurant was about a year ago for Dave’s birthday  and an alarm went off!  Because we were one of the few customers that came back into the restaurant, we got a free dessert.

It was so much fun to chat and hang out with the newly engaged couple.  We said we have to have some dinner dates where the ladies cook and the guys can just hang out and chat.  I know-stereotypical, but Sarah and I love cooking so why not!

After we parted ways, Dave and I headed to Cambridge 1  in Harvard Square for dinner.  When we lived in the Fenway area, there was a Cambridge 1 that we frequented so much, that they knew our order by heart!  We switched it up this time and got the bibb lettuce, grape tomatoes, cilantro, gorgonzola, dijon vinaigrette salad instead of the chicken wings.

For our pizza, we got our usual half hot cherry peppers, black forest ham, manchego and half italian sausage, ricotta, tomato, fontina.

This pizza used to be one of my FAVORITES, but now that I have experienced more pizzas, Figs in Beacon Hill trumps Cambridge 1.  After we got ice cream at Lizzy’s Homemade Ice Cream .  Of course dessert is a MUST! :)

Dave always compares whatever ice cream place we go to with J.P. Licks .  Dave got mint oreo and I got the coconut ice cream.  I really liked my coconut.  I think I was inspired to get it because my friend Morgan got it when we went to Boyo and I thought it was deeeelicious!  Very light and refreshing.

In the end, Dave and I agreed that this ice cream is delicious but J.P. Licks has some more adventurous flavors.  But, I will say that Lizzy’s did have one particularly interesting flavor…Mad Dog Mango.   Mad Dog is an extremely hot, hot sauce.  Dave, my friend Rob and I will have to try this next time we are in the Harvard Square area!

After a great night of friends and food, Dave and I didn’t do much but relax and head to bed early.  It’s been such a busy weekend, and it’s now time to catch up on chores and errands.  Later today I am going to head to the gym and get some lifting done.  Lifting and strength are not as exciting for me as running, but I know I need to do it in order to get back into running shape.  I have PT tomorrow, and it might be my last appointment.  I have decided it is just too pricy for me to go two times a week.

Did you have any good workouts this weekend?

I am slowly starting to like discovering new core/ab workouts like the one I did yesterday .

What is the most interesting ice cream flavor you have tried?

I tried bacon ice cream.  I didn’t really like it, but it was interesting to try!
