Back to the Grind = Early Morning Track Workout

Thank you for all your nice comments on my 10K this weekend. I am happy to report that the situation has been corrected! It has been confirmed that I did place first and that the 2 females ahead of me were 5K runners who ran through the wrong shoot. I am happy the situation has been resolved.

Yesterday was the first day back at school with the kids. It went surprisingly better than expected! I was definitely not ready to come back but it turned out to be a nice, easy day. And in even better news, I already have off tomorrow for Rosh Hashanah! Hopefully Friday will go as smoothly as the past few days have gone! No run yesterday, but Reformer Pilates started back up. It felt great to be be back but it was hard to get into again! It is amazing what happens after a couple of weeks off…even though I had been keeping up with other forms of workouts, getting back on the reformer was HARD.

This morning I woke up at 5am and met my dad at the track. It felt like it had been forever since the last time I was there . I have been wanting to get to the track, but I was not looking forward to this workout:

I thought of all sorts of excuses why I should not do this workout:

*I didn’t complete the 5 @ 1000 pre-requisite workout. I only got through 3 before I started to cramp up.
*It was a workout from 2 weeks ago that I missed…I should just skip ahead to this week’s workout.
* I ran a race on Sunday and am running another race this Saturday…I should probably just do the 10 x 400 workout on the schedule for next week instead.

Fortunately, I was able to push all of those thoughts aside and I sucked it up and completed the workout. And I am so glad I did.

I am so excited about this workout! I felt great the entire time, and am so pleased with my times. My legs felt great…not sore or tired, and I was breathing hard but felt in control. The 2000 was definitely tough. I have never attempted this distance and it was hard but it felt good to push. In the middle of my 2000 it started to rain. Push push push. I felt so strong after this workout.

After the track I quickly showered and got ready for work. Usually when I get up early to do a workout I crash after lunch, but today I felt fine. Must be because it is only the 2nd day of school…
