Swelling in your hands during a marathon is common. There a few factors that can cause this; weather and electrolyte imbalance. Warm weather, cold weather and altitude can cause your hands to swell. When running your marathon, your are sweating a lot and you are not replacing your electrolytes. Electrolytes are in the salts in your bloodstream. Once you start sweating, you lose salt. Try a sports drink after your marathons to help replace your missing electrolytes.
