ac·count·a·ble (-kount-bl) adj. 1. Liable to being called to account; answerable. See Synonyms at responsible. 2. That can be explained: an accountable phenomenon.
It has now been over a month since I ran my last marathon and I am in much need of accountability. I know that some may find accountability scary, but it motivates me. When things get tough and my lazy self wants to take control knowing that I have committed to a challenge will be the proverbial angel on my shoulder, that extra push to get me moving.
I came across this amazing 30 day challenge today. It could not come at a better time or be the best topic for me. I’ve wanted to work on my core for, well forever. I start then stop, start again and stop again. Well now I have accountability thanks to RunToTheFinish and StrongLikeSusan !
Honestly when I first saw today’s workout, I told my hubby that this workout is, NO JOKE! I actually only made it through 2 of the 4 reps but I was hoping it was because I had run 5 miles this morning and spent almost 4 hours painting the front stair case in my house. For sure I was already a little beat when I attempted the reps, but I’m confident as the challenge goes on my core will become stronger and more defined. Two things I need and as a runner I should definitely have to stabilize my form and help prevent injuries.
As far as keeping accountable in my running there is nothing that keeps me moving like signing up for a couple of races. The challenge here will be that Surftown in on a Sunday and the Zooma Cape Cod is that Saturday! Nothing like a little pressure to get you motivated, eh?
Besides fitness accountability, I lean on family and close friends to help me stay accountable in my Christian walk. There are days where it just doesn’t seem to be enough time to get in a full day at work, home life responsibilities and health goal requirements let alone carve out time to study The Word too. Recently I’ve discovered some wonderful Apps that have helped me stay the course tremendously. What a blessing their teachings have been to me. If you are seeking a way to learn about God and the truths of His Word, I would encourage you to listen to these gifted teachers.
