Braedon and Brenden (and Mom too) got us a tent for Father’s Day last Sunday. This weekend Braedon and I tried it out in the backyard. Camping ‘out back’ was an enjoyable time for both of us. With Braedon’s excitement you would have thought he was going to the moon. I liked listening to noises I don’t normally pay much attention to at home. It wasn’t the sound of traffic on nearby Aiken Avenue, or the hum of a neighbor’s air conditioning unit that captured my interest, but the sounds of birds chatting and eating at our feeder (or - “The geese are keeping me awake,” as Braedon said – I don’t think there were any geese in the yard, but…), and the squirrels hastily collecting seeds dropped by the birds, or the sound the maple tree made with a light breeze blowing through the yard. Braedon and I are planning a “real” camping trip later in the summer. We’ll probably spend a night in nearby Susquehanna State Park.
