30 Days of Paleo

Posted Jan 07 2013 2:48pm

With the beginning of a new year and everyone talking about resolutions (I prefer calling them goals..helps me stick to them) I figured no better time to start a 30 day paleo reset. I have played with Paleo in the past but never really stuck to it. Yes I did feel better but was easy to fall back into my old ways of eating. Being sick of always having stomach issues I decided to give it a try and my hubby is being such a great supporter and doing it with me.

During our 30 day Paleo journey I will be pulling from two different references. One happens to be my from the people that wrote my favorite Paleo cook book, Make It Paleo , The Food Lovers Kitchen . The other will come from a new book I have been reading called It Starts With Food . They offer a program called the . startswithfood

Both offer the same principles of not eating any added sugar, processed foods, grains, legumes or dairy. The book ISWF dives more into what effects certain foods have on our bodies and is truly an awesome read! I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in nutrition or has been suffering from any digestive issues. I literally finished the book in 3 days and couldn’t put it down…yes I even had it on my desk at work :)

The Food Lovers Kitchen offers a 30 Day Intro to Paleo, which is more on the recipe side. Put both of these together and you have the best of both worlds! I definitely also recommend their Make It Paleo cookbook as it offers so super yummy recipes that aren’t difficult. One of the biggest problems I have with cookbooks is all these “specialty” ingredients they use. This book does not do that at all. Every single recipe I have made from the book is delicious and my hubby even approves (added plus!!).

So with all that said the hubby and I start our journey tomorrow. During my lunch hour today I will be running to the grocery store to grab a couple things and we should be set. Normally I would have prepped all my food yesterday in anticipation of the week but being in training all weekend didn’t make that possible. Even though I was not able to prep I am able to do a couple crock pot meals that can serve as great lunches. You just have to remember that even when life gets in the way just be creative and make it work :)

I will be blogging every couple days with our progress and how the potential “carb flu” is going. I am a total sugar/candy/chocolate addict so it is going to be quite interesting for me. I know I can do it and that it will make me feel a lot better but I am sure it will be hard. Here is to making my stomach happy and changing into a life of healthy eating!!

Have you ever tried 30 days of Paleo or the Whole30 program? Any advice for someone trying it out? I would love to hear your experiences!!

Happy Monday!
